FAQs - Leather Italiano: Answers to Common Questions

What is Leather Italiano?

Leather Italiano sells handmade Italian leather goods - bags, wallets, belts, backpacks, briefcases and accessories - made in Florence and shipped worldwide direct from Italy. We work directly with the Florentine workshops that make our products, so there is no importer or boutique markup between the workshop bench and your door.

Where are your products made and shipped from?

Every piece is handmade and dispatched from our partner workshop at Via Ferdinando Bonaventura Moggi 11, 50127 Firenze, Italy, in the Santa Croce leather district. Orders ship direct from there.

Are your products genuinely made in Italy?

Yes. All our products are made in Italy by artisans working with leather from Italian tanneries. The leather type - full-grain, top-grain, calfskin, suede or washed leather - is stated on every product page, because "Italian leather" on its own tells you very little. Our guide to what "vera pelle" actually means explains why.

How much does shipping cost?

Shipping is free on all orders over 200 EUR, and free within Italy. Below that threshold, shipping is calculated at checkout based on your location. Our shipping prices include all duties and import taxes.

Will I have to pay customs or duties when my order arrives?

No. There is nothing to pay on delivery. Duties and import taxes are included in the price you see at checkout, so your order arrives without any further charges.

How long will it take to receive my order?

We dispatch within 24 hours of your order. Delivery times from Florence:

  • Italy: 1-2 days
  • Rest of Europe: 1-3 days
  • United States and Canada: 3-6 days
  • Australia and New Zealand: 3-5 days
  • Rest of the world: 5-8 days

Full detail on our shipping page. Occasionally a handmade item takes longer to prepare, and if that happens we will contact you with an updated estimate.

What is your return policy?

Full terms are on our refund policy. If you are in the EU or UK you also have a statutory right of withdrawal that runs alongside our policy.

What payment methods do you accept?

Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover, plus PayPal, Shop Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay. Prices display in your local currency.

How do I choose the right size?

Every product page lists exact width, height, depth, strap length and weight in both centimetres and inches. The most reliable method is to measure a bag you already own and compare. For belts, use our belt size guide.

How do I place an order?

Browse the collection, add what you want to your cart and check out. If you run into any difficulty, email us and we will help.

Do you offer wholesale or bulk discounts?

Yes, for businesses and organisations. Email us for pricing and minimum order quantities.

How do I look after Italian leather?

Keep it out of prolonged direct sunlight, wipe with a soft dry cloth, and condition once or twice a year - not more. New leather can smell strongly for a few days; that is the tanning and it fades. Small marks and tonal shifts are the hide, not faults, and they are why full-grain leather looks better in five years than it does today.

How can I contact you?
